How to Find Your Personal Style
So far we've learned about minimalism, building a capsule wardrobe, and wardrobe staples, but I've failed to talk about personal style! Style is something that's personal. It's an extension of who you are. It's a vehicle that is used to portray your personality and convey your beliefs. How you wear your clothes can tell a lot about who you are. Whether you are loud, shy, confident, or insecure can all be uncovered by your style choices.
If you're not selective, it can be easy to become a carbon copy of another magazine or blog. Those mediums have the authority to tell you what's trending at the current moment -- that's fashion. Fashion is clothing. It's something that is ephemeral and cyclical -- here today and gone tomorrow. Style, however, evokes your personality and can evolve along with the person you become. The journey to living stylishly can be quite daunting. When you are trying to figure out your style, like anything else that is successful, you must have a plan. Here are five things you can do to find your personal style.

If you're trying to define your personal style, one of the best things you can do is seek inspiration. Who are your style icons? Do you have a favorite style blogger or celebrity? Screenshot their IG photos. Consult their Pinterest accounts for inspiration before your next shopping trip. Don't forget street style either! Often, if you look carefully, you may find a fresh way to style an item you already own.
clean out your closet
Look in your closet and take inventory of what you have. Notice something that catches your eye? Make note of any common colors or reoccurring styles or themes. This is the perfect time to get rid of anything you don't love while making a list of potential new wardrobe pieces.
ANalyze your lifestyle
It wouldn't be good for you to have a closet full of club wear if you only go out once a year. Analyze what's going on in your life. Do you spend majority of your time at work? Do you spend a good chunk of your time volunteering at church? Or maybe you like to spend extra time with your friends or family. The point of analyzing your lifestyle is to help you see what clothes you can buy to reflect your style in the season of life you are in.
It's important that you don't take this style journey too seriously. If you take a blast to the past by revisiting some old photos, I'm sure you can see how much your style has evolved. Don't let your embarrassment keep you from experimenting. Try new things. Keep trying over and over until you've reached your style nirvana.
Cultivate your confidence
It's not about the clothes you wear more than it's about the confidence you exude when you wear them. However you choose to wear your clothes, wear them confidently. Don't get caught in comparing your look to the next The most stylish women are the ones who are unapologetic when it comes to showing off what they love. If you find yourself dealing with bouts of insecurity, practice wearing your look in the mirror. Build yourself up. Get comfortable and confident with owning your style.
Personal style is all about taking bits of who you are and transferring that into a visual representation of yourself.
