7 Trends for Your Spring Wardrobe
The snowstorms are finally over, the weather is warming up, and it looks like spring is starting to show its glorious face. With spring right around the corner, I am itching to update my wardrobe with fresh, feminine, and light pieces, and this spring, that is exactly what is trending this season. It's one thing to see these trends sported on the runways and in magazines, but let's make them work for everyday wear. Here are 7 spring trends for your wardrobe.
1) OFF-THE-SHOULDER NECKLINES
There is something so feminine about showing a little shoulder and décolletage. The lace truly tops off this spring look and adds that feminine touch. This look is demure, yet alluring, for those sunny days and spring nights. It is totally possible to remain stylish yet modest in the warmer months. For those cooler nights, pair this top with a light knitted sweater or spring jacket.
2) WHITE BUTTON-DOWNS
A white-button down is a staple that every woman should have in her wardrobe. The white-button down transcends all the seasons and remains as a classic piece. With the versatility of the top, your options are endless. Dress it up with a leather jacket or blazer, or dress it down with a light sweater. The crispness of the button-down will freshen up any look.
3)Glitter & Shine
Somehow sparkle and shine has creeped its way into the spring season. A trend that has been commonly reserved for the winter months is now blooming during the spring. Prevent yourself from sparkling from head to toe by picking one key piece and building your outfit around one sparkly signature item.
While I haven't given pleats a try since private school, they are no longer only reserved for uniforms and girly girls. Take a modern approach on the trend by wearing it in different textures such as chiffon, leather, and other fabric blends. Try pairing the look with different patterns and prints for a bolder and less feminine touch.
Is anyone else wondering why they are still calling stripes a trend? Just like the white-button down, stripes will always remain an all time classic. Wear them alone or mix them up with bright florals to add vibrancy to your look. From tops, to shorts, skirts, and dresses, find a way to incorporate stripes into your spring wardrobe.
Lately, ruffles have received a modern and sophisticated update. This grown up twist on the typically girly ensembles adds a hint of coyness to any look. Pair ruffles with neutral and minimal accessories to let the airy ruffles have their moment.
Who doesn't want to appear smaller around the waist?! A belt is a great way to add dimension and sculpt an amazing hourglass figure. Add one over your jacket, blouse, or dress to slim down and make your middle a focal point.
While it's important that you have staple and timeless pieces in your wardrobe, trends are a great way to spruce up a wardrobe. Save the splurges for wardrobe essentials and save on the trends by shopping at stores like Forever21 and H&M for trendier pieces.
